A Cyber Journey: Technology, Trust and Addiction & Artificial Intelligence in Sex Therapy
Course Description
Thursday November 4, 2026 10 am – 5 pm Eastern/7 am – 2 pm Pacific (6 hrs) Artificial intelligence is no longer on the horizon—it’s already in the therapy room. Clients are forming emotional and erotic attachments to AI companions, using chatbots for sexual exploration, and negotiating new forms of digital intimacy that challenge traditional ideas of fidelity, attachment, and desire. In this training, we move beyond pornography into the evolving landscape of AI-mediated relationships. Is AI cheating? Can a chatbot become an attachment figure? And what happens when desire is shaped by an algorithm? Using an integrative relationship therapy framework, this workshop will help clinicians assess, conceptualize, and intervene when AI becomes part of the relational system. Participants will learn how to work with couples navigating AI intimacy, digital betrayal, and the redefinition of monogamy in a technologically augmented world. This is not about pathologizing technology—it’s about understanding it, contextualizing it, and helping clients integrate it without losing connection to themselves or each other. To certify that you attended the full course you must sign in and participate in attendance measures such as turning on your video, participating in course activities, and completing a course evaluation. Attendance is monitored and recorded according to the standards of the certifying organizations that approve ISTI’s coursework. Refund Policy For synchronous courses canceled within 1 week of the course, you will receive a refund less a $50 admin fee. If you cancel with 24 hours' notice for any reason, you will receive a refund less a $100 admin fee. If you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice, you forfeit a refund but may use that amount as credit toward courses.
