The Foundations of Sex Therapy I - Theory and Methods This course will review theory and methods of psychosexual disorders and sex-related psychotherapy, including several different models of treatment as well as techniques of sex-related assessment and diagnosis of the ‘Psychosexual Disorders’ described in the current edition of the DSM. Foundations of Sex Therapy II - Research and History This class covers the history of the discipline of sex research, theory, education, counseling, and therapy. We will review the principles of sexuality research and research methods and create potential topics for research projects that are needed in the field of sexology. The experience represented in current research around human sexuality and treatment is is mediated to a significant degree by culture, race, gender, and other variables which are often not adequately represented in the literature by all diverse populations. We will explore these and other issues as we review the history of the field and explore how AI and technology will impact our future.
